Winter scents aren’t necessarily the most heady or gourmand. They can be captivating and enveloping, certainly, but also invigorating, even astringent. They can also be floral, like a call to the spring that will follow, but in any case, for me, it’s the best season to introduce a touch of mystery. A scent that evokes another, a fragrance that seemed familiar but, upon reflection, reveals itself to be a surprise, an unexpected development of scents within that fragrance.

And it’s not just perfume. Fragrance mists and oils are also very pleasant to use in winter. Mists for their lightness, oils for a more sensorial, more sensual diffusion, revealing the true result of the fusion between the formula and our skin’s chemistry.So, let’s get started with our little rendezvous with perfumes.

Winter fragrances <\/h6>\n\n\n\n

I have two perfumes to share with you, one I’ve already mentioned on the blog, and the other a new discovery. The one I’ve already talked about is, in my opinion, the best winter floral. It’s Izia la Nuit<\/a>, the nighttime version of Sisley’s Izia perfume.

It opens with blackcurrant, mandarin, and cardamom, leading to a heart of rose, freesia, and magnolia, and finishes with base notes of ambroxan, patchouli, and vanilla. Sensual, mysterious, and floral, without ever being overpowering, it’s a fragrance that makes you want to save the world from an endless winter, with effortless elegance.


The second is a discovery I made a few months ago. I bought it for autumn, but I’ve been wearing it much more since mid-December. It’s Coffee Break<\/a> from Maison Margiela’s Replica line.

This fragrance, which I smelled in a corner shop simply because it had “coffee” in the name, is a real oddity, just the way I like them. It reminds me of Bana Banana by L’Artisan Parfumeur in that, like the former which smells like bananas without actually being bananas, it smells like a latte without containing either coffee or latte. It’s the combination of apple, lemon, then sandalwood, cedar, and finally lavender, mint, and orange blossom that makes this fragrance smell like a coffee break, a clever illusion.

Mists and oils


<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

For those who want to usher in spring early, I have two ideas. The\u00a0Find Comfort<\/a>\u00a0mist by Rare Beauty, with its lemon, jasmine, and cashmere wood notes, evokes winter with its lemon, but it’s also sensual and refreshing. Simply put, this mist smells like eternal youth, lol. Okay, I’m not exactly impartial since I adore all citrus scents, but this bright lemon is wonderful.

My second idea is a game-changer, because it’s not spring I’m bringing to the brink of winter, but summer. With the\u00a0Avec Amour<\/a>\u00a0perfumed oil by Violette_fr, we have top notes of coconut water and bergamot, followed by ylang-ylang in the heart, and musky amber, sandalwood, and vetiver in the base. It offers mystery, sensuality, and a freshness that still evokes winter, with the added touch of ukulele. This perfume oil is truly delightful to wear, so much so that I wish it would be released as a full-fledged perfume or a mist so I could spray it all over myself.

The last perfume oil I want to tell you about was in a lovely little gift I received. It’s the shimmering perfume oil from Rituals’\u00a0Yozakura<\/a>\u00a0range. It embodies the purity of winter combined with its mystery and sensuality. Fruity notes give way to white flowers, vanilla amber, and almond milk. A marvel for bringing a little warmth to this sleepy world.
