Hello, young Padawan
Here’s my annual selection of sunscreens that have won over my little heart, especially my skin! I like products that apply quickly, are easy to forget, are effective, insightful, and tough on the sun.
The best sunscreen is, above all, the one you apply, and it has to be comfortable to wear. It sounds silly, but keeping it in your closet won’t prevent you from having lobster shoulders. So, let’s go for simplicity and pragmatism, with a few extras to boot.
Body and face
This year, there are two favorites for the body and face, with a choice of SPF 30 or 50.
First of all, I recently discovered the pharmacy brand SVR, and I must admit that their products are effective and good value for money, at least for the ones I’ve tried:
For the body, the Sun Secure SPF 50 mist is particularly effective for swimming, walking, gardening, or cycling. It’s best to apply it outside, as it’s a mist, so you might have some residue on your bathroom floor, although there’s an easy technique: spray it into the palm of your hand and then apply it to the body. It’s not sticky, you can’t feel it on your skin, and it’s incredibly effective. It’s also recommended for people who are not very flexible, who can spray their backs more easily. I mainly use it while swimming to avoid sunburn on my shoulders when swimming front crawl and on my décolleté when swimming backstroke, as these two areas get sunburned if they’re not protected.
For the face, Photo-Age Sun Secure Fluid SPF 50 is truly a wonder. It feels light on the skin, without a heavy or greasy effect, and serves as an excellent makeup base. It’s perfect for both sports and city wear. It’s suitable for all skin types, from dry (with a cream underneath) to oily.
For those who love sunscreen oils, my favorite is Mimitika SPF 30. It’s water-resistant, just like the SVR products, easy to apply, smells like vacation, and leaves legs feeling subtly and delicately silky. It contains natural oils, such as apricot and hibiscus, with regenerative and antioxidant properties.
Finally, a cute city sunscreen, Madara SPF 30. It is fabulous. Very lightly tinted, it provides a slight healthy glow, and for those who need more, it’s also an excellent makeup base. Richer than SVR, it’s suitable for dry to combination skin. It’s the sunscreen I wear every day and never go without.
The extras
The Caudalie SPF 50 stick, which I’ve already told you about here, is fantastic. I wear it on my scars, tattoos, and any other sensitive areas. This is my second one, and when I finish it, I’ll probably repurchase the same one.
A good SPF 30 hand cream is essential to avoid sun spots. I found the Eucerin Hyaluron-filler SPF 30. Once it dries, it doesn’t leave a greasy feeling, so you forget about it afterward. Needless to say, it’s great.
A small lip balm with a gloss effect, SPF 50, is rare enough to mention because most lip products have a protection of 25 or less, and it is from the Ultra Violette brand. These are colored glosses with a minty flavor, super pretty, and incredibly practical with their SPF 50—the best. My favorite shade is “Choc Top,” a very nice brown caramel.
Finally, let’s talk after sun. For me, the best are Pierre Ricaud, whether for the face or body. They contain peptides, bisabolol, and aloe vera for a soothing, restorative, and tan-enhancing effect. The fresh scent is pleasant, not harsh, and the application is enjoyable thanks to its cooling effect on the skin. I highly recommend them.
And here’s this year’s selection, something to encourage the sun to shine and the reluctant to slather on.
I wish you a wonderful weekend, and see you next Friday, as we do every week, for new adventures.
