For a golden health, it’s this way.

Hello, young Padawan

With autumn and cooler temperatures come colds, flu, and other winter ailments, but there’s no point in letting coughs and runny noses overwhelm you. For today’s post, I’m offering you a simple and effective recipe to help you navigate this cold season and stay in shape.

I’ve already published a recipe for golden milk on the blog as part of an article on winter drinks. However, milk isn’t the only thing that’s golden. The easiest way to explore this is to combine everything here in an article on Ayurvedic preparations with multiple uses, as shown below.

The golden milk and the golden honey.

The golden milk.

If you’ve never heard of it, it’s a delicious Ayurvedic drink with lots of virtues: anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, analgesic, antiseptic, immune system stimulator, skin purifier, metabolism and liver regulator, and digestive. I regularly prepare this absolutely delicious and warming golden milk, especially after skiing or a nice walk in cold weather.

To prepare a cup of golden milk, nothing could be simpler. Just pour the milk of your choice into a small saucepan, and add a spoonful of golden milk spices just like this one (the little black pot in the photo, which is now sold in white packaging, ed) that you can find here.

Place the pan over medium heat, stir gently, and turn off the heat before boiling. Let it steep for 2 to 3 minutes, then strain. Drink slowly. It is possible to add a spoonful of honey and/or ghee (clarified butter).

But you can also make your own golden milk spice mix…

For a cup of golden milk

200 ml vegetable milk of your choice

spices:
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 pinch of cinnamon
1 cardamom
1 clove
1 pinch of vanilla powder
1 pinch of nutmeg
1 pinch of ginger powder
1 pinch of Madagascar black pepper

Note: You can prepare this spice mix in large quantities and store it in a jar in a cool, dry place, away from light. A teaspoon of your mixture will be enough to make a cup of golden milk.

The golden honey

It has almost the same benefits as golden milk, except that it also soothes sore throats thanks to the properties of honey.

The spices are the same as for golden milk, just need to add honey:

50g organic honey
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cardamom
1 clove
1 pinch vanilla powder
1 pinch nutmeg
1 pinch ginger powder
1 pinch Madagascar black pepper

Stir everything well with the honey and store it in a jar. Let a teaspoon of golden honey melt under your tongue, or add it to your herbal tea or a cup of warm milk (max. 60°C). Remember to stir the honey before scooping it out.

And here’s something to keep you in shape for this cold season. Two wonderful, time-honored solutions to get you back on track, or to relax and enjoy a moment of calm in our crazy lives.

Have a great weekend, and I look forward to seeing you next Friday!

XO 🍯
